Hello everyone. This was my first year Kiteboarding, needless to say I love the sport. I want to get into snowkiting this winter. I have a Fuel 15m and a Caution Spitfire 12m. I'm not sure if I should get a smaller kite or maybe even a traction/Foil type kite. I live in Michigan so I will probably be in tighter areas. What do you guys use/recommend for snowkiting? Not sure if it will help but I've been snowboarding for about 12 years now. Thanks, TC |

Tony, I'm glad to hear you're turning snowkiter. The reversability/brake function on open cell foils is a big plus on the snow. In water, the surface friction assists in re-launching the kite. Sometimes that friction isn't there with snow and ice... that's when the reverse comes in hand. The other plus is that the foils are more durable and don't need to be pumped up in cold conditions. I'm from North Dakota and I don't think the kitesurf pumps are designed for -20 degree F temps. I recommend a sheetable foil that can be controlled like a kitesurf kite. Good Luck, Eric |
